Notes From Nowhere

For New Year’s Eve, here are two images from the past year that may speak to the expatriate. Deprived of electrical power, Stephen Mayes climbed up 34 floors on pitch-black stairs because he wanted to see storm-battered Manhattan from a height. Meanwhile, uptown and safe, I indulged in editing the results from a quick trip to L.A., one of my favorite places. Happy New Year everyone…

While I was considering how to deal with the recent onslaught of freezing temperatures in Manhattan, a genuinely Bavarian Christmas cookie made its way onto my desk. I extended the cookie’s life span by letting it sit there just about long enough to be photographed.

Yesterday, I had chocolate brownies made by a logician. As they say, only in New York, and a real treat for an expatriate washed ashore in the land of the free. The brownies were fudgy and incredibly delicious. Happy Holidays everyone…
