What can be more disconcerting for the Manhattanite than the assault of pure, unmitigated NATURE, with its snakes and bugs and ticks and whatnot? These two from the forests of Indiana. Admittedly, I didn’t come across any swamps. But still!
Taking The Weather Personally
I tend not to take the weather personally, but I gather that summer has returned to Chicago right after I left. While I was there this past weekend, wind and rain made it impossible to even stand near the lake, let alone walk. The water- and shockproof camera I got myself for the mountains was never needed more. Back in the hotel, I found myself blowdrying my shoes, a first for me. Oh well. Great burger dinner though in the Windy City.
Speaking of traveling: it’s now all limited to carrying iDevices. No more checking of notebooks through security. As a consumer sheep, I never felt more liberated. And Dropbox is my friend, wherever I go. The only downside is that there’s no good workflow yet when it comes to photography. I sure hope to sort this out soon.
I Don’t Know Exactly What, But It Feels Like That
In the past three years or so, there must have been close to 100 interviews with artists in my rss feed. “Dismantling My Career: A Conversation with Alec Soth” is one of the few I read all the way to the end. Via his new site, here.
